Overview
The University Writing Program at the University of Florida invites applications for four Lecturer positions to begin August 16, 2026. The Lecturer, working title Assistant Instructional Professor, is a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure accruing appointment with the possibility of renewal and an opportunity for advancement in UF’s lecturer track. The University Writing Program is a thriving, independent unit offering a wide range of writing-intensive courses in areas such as first-year composition, themed critical thinking and writing, discipline-focused writing, and professional writing. The position requires a Ph.D. in Composition and Rhetoric or in a related content area with commensurate experience in teaching writing.
A significant goal of the University Writing Program is to cultivate effective visual and written communication in academic and professional contexts. Applicants should have rhetorical expertise and teaching experience. Professional experience will also be considered. Preferred qualifications include a strong interest in experiential learning, such as establishing student exchanges, leading study abroad courses, or pursuing community-based outreach. The teaching assignment is 3 / 3. The salary is competitive and includes a full benefits package.

Application Instructions
Required Qualifications : PhD in Composition and Rhetoric or a related content area with teaching experience in composition. For full consideration, applications must be submitted online. The complete application includes (1) a letter of application, (2) a curriculum vitae, and (3) the names and email addresses of three references. After initial review, letters of recommendation will be requested from the references for selected applicants. Student evaluations will be submitted upon request. Applications will be reviewed beginning November 1, 2025, and the position will remain open until filled.
