  • Job Profile Summary

The ability to leverage data entered in various operational systems, including the Electronic Health Record (EHR), enables organizations to provide better quality care at a better value. This position works under minimal supervision of the Manager in providing business and technical expertise to define, create, and maintain business intelligence solutions using operational data sources, including EHR data; and leads medium size projects through all phases of system development. Maintains database dictionaries, monitors standards and procedures and the integration of systems through database design and maintenance. The position also provides leadership support, consultation, and education on reporting, measurement, and process improvement methodologies related to clinical workflow, revenue cycle, and other administrative data and processes with the goal being optimization of the BI solutions and system interoperability. This position provides data visualization expertise to clinical, business, and operational leaders to present data information in a meaningful way. They are responsible for production support and maintenance of the BI solutions and the reporting tools for the enterprise, while mentoring and supporting overall operational intelligence initiatives. This includes development of training and education content to promote the adoption of a standard reporting data tool set.

  • Major Responsibilities :

    Independently analyze, develop, and enhance analytical and operational BI solutions to meet business needs.

  • Assist in metric design and documentation efforts in collaboration with operations teams, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and effective use of data.
  • Translate business requirements into well-designed and validated BI solutions that support organizational goals.
  • Provide thorough and accurate documentation for all work, adhering to current industry standards.
  • Offer production support for BI solutions, including problem analysis, design, implementation, and testing.
  • Manage multiple medium-scale projects and requests using project management tools and methodologies.
  • Train and educate end users on reporting tools, and support upgrades / changes through all phases with oversight.
  • Actively participate in the reporting team on-call pool within the IT ticketing system and go live / implementations.
  • Demonstrate new / advanced professional skills by maintaining awareness of healthcare environment, EHR technology, and informatics industry trends.
  • Mentor junior team members and provide expertise in the analysis and development of BI solutions.
  • Licensure, Registration, and / or Certification Required :

  • Epic certification(s) in relevant application (status of Certified or Accredited)
  • Learning plan requirements to be provided with offer includes any missing Epic Cogito certifications needed to perform role, and certifications must be obtained within 5 months of starting first Epic class.
  • Additional / alternative certification as appropriate based on BI solution & EHR platform.
  • Education Required :

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, OR equivalent experience in EHR applications and SQL report writing
  • Experience Required :

  • Typically requires 2-4 years of experience in Epic applications and Business Intelligence tools.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :

  • Show excellent analytical and logical thinking, creativity, self-reliance, communication skills, and the ability to work with various components of a system.
  • Work independently or as part of a team and manage multiple priorities while completing tasks efficiently.
  • Be a team player with a positive attitude, a strong commitment to customer service, and a willingness to learn healthcare systems and business processes.
  • Have experience in database design, complex queries, business intelligence and ETL tools, and change control methodology.
  • Understand data visualization concepts and EHR workflows and reporting.
  • Be proficient with Microsoft products.
  • Work with minimal supervision and be a self-starter.
  • Be able to create and maintain dashboards / reports that summarize data for different audiences.
  • Perform independent analysis on key clinical, financial, and operational metrics.
  • Manage multiple small to medium-sized projects and tasks effectively.
  • Create clear documentation to support education and presentation efforts.
  • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :

  • Travel outside of workplace is required and thus incumbent is exposed to weather and road conditions.
