Senior Accountant
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to work closely with the Vice President of Accounting. You will support the accounting needs of our organization, ensuring accurate financial reporting and maintaining robust internal controls.
Responsibilities
- Implement internal control procedures to safeguard company assets.
- Conduct business analytics and complete financial reporting for five business lines.
- Maintain general ledger balances, including receivables, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and accrued liabilities.
- Prepare quarterly and annual statements for regulatory filings in collaboration with an external firm.
- Support Accounts Payable by reviewing transactions and ensuring proper expense and general ledger allocations.
- Review bank reconciliations, issue stop payments, and manage payment records.
- Assist with annual 1099 reporting.
- Prepare quarterly reporting packages for the board of directors.
- Engage in research and improvement projects with the Vice President of Accounting.
- Support research and documentation requirements for third-party accounting firms.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in Accounting and General Ledger management.Experience with Reconciliation, Month-End procedures, and Journal Entries.Expertise in Internal Controls and Financial Reporting.Strong knowledge of statutory accounting principles (GAAP, particularly within Insurance).Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables.Audit and Accrual experience.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance (Accounting preferred).Over five years of accounting experience.Work Environment
The role involves working directly with the Vice President of Accounting within a financial institution setting. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $38.46 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
