Summary
Advance Technology Cores is seeking a highly skilled and experienced CNC Programmer / Machinist to join our team at Baylor College of Medicine. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in designing and fabricating custom devices to support groundbreaking scientific research and clinical applications. Utilizing advanced CAD / CAM software and a variety of CNC and manual machining tools within the Bioengineering Core, this role directly contributes to our mission of advancing medical research and improving patient care.
This position is located onsite in the Texas Medical Center.
Job Duties
Chooses appropriate methods for operating machines and monitor them during the machining process, which includes :
Independently sets up and operates CNC machine tools to manufacture precision parts according to detailed specifications. Monitors machining processes to maintain tight tolerances and achieve exceptional quality standards.
Skillfully operates various manual tools such as saws, sanders, and drills as required to complement CNC machining processes.
Identifies and selects the most suitable tools, machines, and materials for the fabrication of custom parts, ensuring optimal performance and precision.
Generates programs for a five-axis CNC mill and a CNC lathe. Programs CNC machines using CAD / CAM software, and perform program editing at machine controls to plan the most efficient sequence of operations. Optimizes machining processes for efficiency and accuracy. Validates programs to guarantee flawless execution and high-quality output.
Tests completed parts to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications. Utilize measurement tools to inspect and document mechanical parts, ensuring they meet stringent quality and specification requirements.
Maintains equipment in good working condition and ensure a safe, clean, and organized work area. Adheres to safety protocols and promote a culture of safety within the machining environment.
Works closely with the engineer of the Bioengineering Core, as well as Texas Medical Center researchers and physicians, to study drawings, schematics, engineering information, or sample parts.
