Sr Safety Manager - Abilene Texas
The Sr. Safety Manager will be responsible for the strategic development, implementation, and management of all safety programs for a project that is valued over 1 Billion in scope. This role requires a strong leadership presence, extensive knowledge of safety regulations, and a proactive approach to risk management in the construction industry, particularly in the vertical building and healthcare construction market.
This is a full time role, initially on a project in Abilene Texas, for 3 years.
Responsibilities include developing and executing a comprehensive safety strategy aligned with project and company goals, managing the project environmental health and safety programs, driving a safety-oriented approach to work, compiling, analyzing, and interpreting occupational illness and accident statistical data, routinely inspecting facilities, machinery, and safety equipment, monitoring the workforce for unsafe behaviors, developing environmental health and safety training materials, interpreting safety regulations, coordinating and presenting safety training, interfacing with Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) officials / inspectors, leading and mentoring a team of safety professionals, conducting high-level safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations, directing incident investigations and overseeing the development of corrective action plans, providing executive-level reports on safety performance and metrics, collaborating with senior management and project teams to integrate safety into all aspects of the project, staying abreast of industry trends and advancements in safety practices, and promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field, minimum of 20+ years of experience in safety management within the self-perform construction industry, with a focus on vertical building projects, Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification preferred, extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards, proven leadership and team management skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and proficiency in safety management software and tools.
