Location : Goshen, New York (Hybrid – Onsite as required)

Duration : Project-based (up to 500 hours or 1 year, whichever comes first)

Type : Contract / SOW-Based Engagement

Rate : $60 to $70 per hour

About the Project

Orange County is seeking a skilled Datacenter Engineer (Cisco UC) to provide professional support for county projects and initiatives. This is a project-based engagement with a prepaid block of 500 hours to be utilized as needed over the course of up to one year — whichever is completed earlier.

About the Project

Scope of Work

The engineer will be responsible for configuring, reviewing, and troubleshooting datacenter and network systems, including but not limited to :

Internet and connectivity services
Storage Area Networking (SAN)
Network Attached Storage (NAS)
Exagrid Appliances
Veeam Software

All work will be completed during standard business hours (8 AM – 5 PM, Monday to Friday) , excluding national holidays, unless otherwise agreed.

Onsite work requires a minimum of 4 billable hours per visit .

Remote work is billed in 15-minute increments .

Configuration changes impacting production systems will be communicated and scheduled with the customer in advance.

Responsibilities

Provide technical expertise in datacenter infrastructure and network support.

Diagnose and resolve complex hardware and software issues.

Execute configuration changes with minimal downtime and full documentation.

Collaborate with the customer's project manager to align priorities and schedules.

Ensure compliance with Orange County's operational and security standards.

Requirements

5+ years of hands-on experience in Datacenter Engineering or Cisco UC environments.

Proven experience supporting datacenter networks and applications similar to Orange County's infrastructure.

Proficiency in the following systems and technologies :

NICHE (application systems)

Tanium (endpoint management and security)

Cisco VoIP / CORE (voice and network management)

Fortinet & Sophos (firewall and security management)

Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

Ability to work independently in a hybrid setup (onsite & remote).

Additional Details

This is an hourly, project-based role — work will conclude once the 500-hour block or 1-year duration (whichever comes first) is completed.

Any work performed outside standard hours will be invoiced at 1.5x the hourly rate.
