Construction Safety Manager

The Construction Health and Safety Manager will serve as a field-level representative for health and safety on state-of-the-art hyperscale data center projects. This role provides essential oversight and support to General Contractor (GC) teams, fostering a culture of safety excellence. You will establish and nurture collaborative relationships, ensuring safety practices are implemented and continuously improved through the adoption of industry best practices.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with global construction safety requirements, including verifying that GCs adhere to safety policies and maintain comprehensive safety programs.

Conduct regular on-site safety observations and document findings in comprehensive reports to enhance safety practices.

Participate in planning meetings to ensure safety considerations are integrated into all project phases.

Guide GC leadership in safety practices through training sessions and workshops, emphasizing a strong safety culture.

Work collaboratively with GCs to prepare their teams to meet safety expectations through transparent communication and constructive feedback.

Influence and coach GC teams to empower them in managing their operations while sharing best practices.

Engage with multiple internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration across all project levels.

Drive continuous improvement of safety standards by researching and implementing industry best practices.

Promote a growth mindset and encourage continuous learning and innovation in safety solutions.

Conduct site safety walks, lead daily meetings, review and approve Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and ensure compliance with OSHA and other safety standards.

Essential Skills

10+ years of experience in health and safety management, particularly in construction or project environments.

Expertise in OSHA 1926, NFPA 70E compliance, and safety management.

Proficiency in incident investigation and root cause analysis.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to engage effectively with multiple stakeholders and foster a collaborative environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or related field (preferred).

Preferred certifications : Certified Health and Safety Technician (CHST), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or other relevant safety designations.

Work Environment

The position is based in San Jose, California, with a typical work schedule of Monday through Friday, 50 hours per week. The role involves regular site visits and interaction with various stakeholders, requiring strong communication and collaboration skills.

This is a Contract position based out of Santa Clara, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $97.00 - $107.00 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
