About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse

Hours per Shift : 12 hours (19 : 00 - 07 : 30)

Experience : 1 year of experience required; first time travelers will be considered only if they have experience caring for post-operative surgical patients, especially in Orthopedics and Gastrointestinal surgeries.

License : Required state license at the time of submission.

Certifications : BLS, ACLS

Must-Have : Strong attention to detail, experience with wound vacs and orthopedic patients, ability to float to other units.

Description :

This is a busy medical surgical unit with 34 beds.

The unit cares for orthopedic, spine, general surgery, and bariatric patients.

The unit usually receives 10-20 post-operative patients per day.

Nurses will have both medical and surgical responsibilities.

There is a requirement for cardiac and oxygen monitoring capability.

Nurses should have experience in managing a variety of conditions, including post-operative care.

The unit operates in a fast-paced environment which requires high turnover management of admissions and discharges.

Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy.

Nurses will float to other units within their skill set as needed.

Compliance requirements include EKG onboarding exam and various competency tests.

There will be no guarantee of block scheduling; self-scheduling is permitted with manager approval.

Candidates must be comfortable with multiple admissions and discharges each shift.

All patient diagnoses will primarily consist of post-operative patients, as well as some medicine patients.

Experience with orthopedic equipment is required.

A reference from a charge nurse or supervisor is needed at the time of submission.

Rehire eligibility must be noted during the submission process.
