Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Med-Surg Acute night shift position requiring an active IL RN license and prior dedicated neuro unit experience.
Responsibilities
Position is in the Neuro Med-Surg Acute unit within an acute care hospital setting54-bed unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1 : 4-5 on days and 1 : 5-6 on nightsPatient population includes stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, head injury, and medical overflow casesResponsible for titration of Heparin drips based on PTT and care of neuroscience patientsEPIC EMR system is used; prior experience with EPIC preferredPhillips telemetry monitors are used and nurses are not required to read their own stripsNight shifts are 12 hours (1900-0700), scheduled in blocks of three with every other weekend and holiday rotationFloat required within general unit rotation; if floated outside core unit, will be paired with a trained nurse and assigned tasks within competencyCare delivery supported by 24 / 7 charge nurse and house supervisor; charge nurse usually is not assigned patient careSupport staff includes nurse aides and patient care techs with varied ratios by shiftHigh flow oxygen is rarely used and limited to stable COVID casesOrientation includes two days of unit-specific and EMR training with preceptorshipScrub color is not specified, but all tattoos must be covered while on duty and only ear piercings are allowedEvery other weekend and holiday coverage requiredNo call or standby responsibilitiesNo COVID vaccination required for this positionLocal candidates are accepted with a local rate adjustment for those residing within 50 milesRequirements
