This is a remote position.
We are looking for a dynamic leader to spearhead our telecom network construction projects throughout the Vermont market. This position is responsible for the complete lifecycle of on-site field construction, from initial planning to final execution. You will guide teams, manage project timelines, and ensure all work adheres to the highest industry standards. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated history of success in telecom network construction.
Your Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive technical and administrative leadership for the construction team.
Direct the installation and construction of inside and outside plant network infrastructure, including at customer locations.
Develop plans, offer expert recommendations, and provide work guidance to maximize productivity in the construction environment.
Supervise the daily activities of the construction crew with accountability for specific financial and operational targets.
Translate high-level operational objectives into clear, actionable goals for your team.
Serve as the subject matter expert and provide technical advice across a portfolio of construction projects.
Contribute to the innovation of new construction techniques, concepts, and company-wide standards.
Maintain regular, clear communication and collaboration with the project management team.
Ensure all job duties are performed in strict compliance with our company's safety standards and policies.
Lead, motivate, and mentor a high-performing team of Outside Plant construction technicians, driving strategic change to meet business goals.
Manage all day-to-day team functions, including work map design reviews, quality assurance, and time reporting.
Act as the primary technical point of contact, communicating project status and technical details to the project management office.
Coach your team to operate with a sense of urgency, delivering on-time performance and high-quality results for our customers.
Assume full supervisory responsibility for planning, organizing, coordinating, and controlling the team’s construction activities.
Function as an advisor and expert for subordinates, resolving escalated issues and complex problems.
Identify necessary resources and collaborate with the department manager to develop project plans and schedules.
Partner with the department manager on the recruitment and retention of construction team members.
Collaborate with the training department to foster continuous employee growth and development.
Requirements
Possess extensive knowledge of the fiber optic construction field and its supporting environments.
Understand effective supervisory techniques and have the ability to resolve employee relations and performance matters.
Demonstrate the capacity to thrive and adapt in a constantly changing work environment.
Have a proven track record of solving a wide array of technical problems and implementing effective solutions.
Exhibit advanced, expert-level skills across all phases of the telecom construction process.
Requires independent judgment and proactive, critical thinking.
Maintain proficiency with standard computer applications, particularly the Microsoft Office suite.
Show a keen ability to identify potential quality and safety issues and promote team-wide awareness in these areas.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This role demands physical agility and the ability to work in various conditions. You must be able to sit, stand, climb, kneel, bend, lift, and operate effectively in both aerial and underground settings. The position requires driving and operating company vehicles, including bucket trucks. You will be exposed to a range of environmental factors, including heat, cold, dust, moisture, and loud noise. The work is a mix of field and office duties, involving extended periods of sitting or standing, regular communication by phone and computer, and the use of standard office equipment.
