Patient Registration Specialist
We are looking for a detail-oriented and compassionate Patient Registration Specialist to join our team on a contract basis in Los Angeles, California. This role involves providing essential support to our street medicine program by ensuring patient registration and discharge processes are conducted smoothly. The ideal candidate will be skilled in customer service, knowledgeable in medical terminology, and comfortable working in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Responsibilities :
- Welcome and register patients in a thorough and trauma-informed manner.
- Verify insurance coverage, calculate charges, and coordinate financial arrangements to ensure accurate reimbursement.
- Collect, review, and input required documentation into the eClinicalWorks system.
- Notify healthcare providers of any urgent symptoms or concerns reported by patients.
- Gather and report demographic data to relevant health plans and organizations.
- Schedule appointments and follow up on consult notes as needed.
- Manage patient transportation services and operate the mobile medical van when required.
- Handle office supplies inventory and maintain an organized work environment.
- Provide benefit information and assist with insurance-related inquiries.
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned to support the team.
Requirements :
At least 3 years of experience in patient registration or a similar role within a healthcare setting.Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Allscripts, Cerner, or Epic.Strong knowledge of medical terminology and billing / authorization processes.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to handle inbound calls professionally.Bilingual proficiency in Spanish, including reading and writing, is highly preferred.Ability to multitask effectively and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.Proficient in using Microsoft Windows and related software applications.Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for operating a mobile medical van when necessary.
