Key Responsibilities of a Nurse Unit Manager (RN)
As a Nurse Unit Manager at Complete Care at Nazareth, you will be a pivotal clinical and administrative leader, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and the efficient operation of your assigned unit.
Individualized Patient Assessment : Proactively assess the unique and evolving needs of each patient to accurately determine and implement appropriate, individualized treatment plans that promote optimal health outcomes.
Interdisciplinary Coordination : Efficiently coordinate with supervising physicians, therapists, and the broader interdisciplinary team to ensure a seamless, holistic recovery process and continuity of care for all patients.
Staff Supervision and Oversight : Directly supervise the nursing staff (LPNs and CNAs) on assigned shifts, providing guidance, support, and mentorship by monitoring the accurate distribution of medications, proper documentation, and all other critical elements of patient care.
Progress Tracking and Compliance : Meticulously track treatments and monitor patient progress according to stringent HIPAA guidelines and all other relevant privacy regulations, maintaining precise and confidential electronic health records (EHR).
Regular Nursing Rounds : Systematically conduct nursing rounds on all units multiple times throughout each shift, ensuring patient safety, assessing immediate care needs, and addressing concerns proactively.
Staff and Family Education : Provide essential education to staff, residents, and resident family members regarding health conditions, care protocols, and facility procedures, promoting patient and family involvement.
Compliance Assurance : Actively ensure staff are performing all duties in strict accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines, as well as facility policies and procedures, maintaining the highest standards of regulatory compliance.
Performance Evaluation and Coaching : Participate actively in the evaluation of nursing staff performance, providing timely, constructive feedback and coaching to foster professional development.
Conflict Resolution : Address and resolve patient or staff concerns, mediating conflicts and promoting a positive, safe unit environment.
Resource Management : Effectively manage unit resources, including adequate staffing levels, medical supplies, and equipment, to ensure efficient operation and quality care delivery.
Other Duties as Assigned : Graciously perform all other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Nursing, Director of Nursing, or Administrator.
Qualifications & License
To be successful and impactful in this vital leadership role, you should possess :
License : An Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) License in good standing within the state of Wisconsin is required.
Strong Autonomy and Teamwork : The proven ability to work independently when managing unit operations and making critical decisions, while also excelling as a vital part of a collaborative group.
Computer Proficiency : Solid computer knowledge, including comfort and proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and standard office software.
Leadership Experience (Required / Preferred) : Prior experience managing staff and demonstrated leadership capabilities in a healthcare setting are highly preferred.
Relevant Experience (Preferred) : Previous long-term care, sub-acute, or post-acute care experience is preferred, providing a foundational understanding of our patient population.
