DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF WORK

Minimum age : 18 years old. Must be available a minimum of 15 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and some daytime hours. This is a year-round position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : (Must be able to perform either with or without reasonable accommodation)

• Provides internal and perimeter security for the main library or a branch library.
• Stands in assigned area and patrols frequently on foot.
• Monitors and responds to disruptive and unauthorized activities, including excessive noise, loitering, theft, and destruction of library property.
• Opens and / or secures facility at closing.
• Works under the general direction of a supervisor in charge of the library facility.
• Performs related functions as assigned.
• Ability to demonstrate regular and predictable attendance as scheduled.

Post Offer Requirements

Satisfactory completion of criminal history, physical, and a drug screen that tests for illegal drugs as defined by the Federal Drug Free Workplace Act but not those legalized under Michigan law.
