Security Officer
Responsibilities :
- Patrols facilities and property to detect unauthorized persons, activities, unsafe conditions, and ensure safety standards are maintained.
- Maintains communication with supervisors, fellow officers, security operations center, and law enforcement to report crimes, incidents, and safety irregularities.
- Intervenes in disputes using verbal de-escalation techniques to diffuse potentially violent situations.
- Investigate and documents incidents, safety hazards, and criminal activities.
- Controls access to restricted properties and verifies admittance of authorized individuals.
- Escorts people and property to desired destinations when safety is a concern.
- Assists with parking and security during special events and provides visitors with directions and security information.
- Performs security services and dispatcher duties when assigned.
- Participates in activities not directly related to security operations as approved by security management.
- Detains unauthorized individuals in compliance with state and federal law.
Minimum Qualifications :
Two (2) consecutive years of armed security, military, or law enforcement experience within the last 7 years.Possess a POST certification OR have been registered through a military (DD214 or current Military ID) OR all active, reserve, retired or honorably discharged military personnel will meet the licensing / certification requirement.Federal, state, or local licensing firearms certification.Successfully complete the Basic Security Officer and Firearms course mandated by the Secretary of State within 3 months post-hire.Successfully complete training to carry non-lethal weapons such as a Taser (CED) and / or a baton within 3 months post-hire.Possess a valid Georgia Driver's License.Pass a psychological exam.Obtain IAHSS Basic certification within 12 months.Obtain a BLS Certification within 12 months.Complete FEMA IS 100, 200, 700 & 800 within six (6) months.Additional Details :
