About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse

Profession : Nursing

Shift : Night 4x12-Hour; Day 4x12-Hour

Hours per Shift : 12 hours

Experience : Minimum 2 years of experience in Medical-Surgical / Telemetry nursing (Adults only)

License : Valid state license required

Certifications : BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred

Must-Have :

• Experience in telemetry and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Ability to manage dysrhythmias
• Experience with the following patient diagnoses : diabetes, congestive heart failure, infection, sepsis, COPD, general surgery cases such as kidney stones, appendectomy, and minor amputations, sickle cell crisis, GI bleed, diverticulitis, and general medicine / observation
• Skills in accessing ports, blood product administration, central line care / management, chest tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, feeding tube management, and pre / post hemodialysis management
• Proficient in telemetry monitoring and patient management

Description :

This position involves caring for adult patients with a variety of medical conditions.

The nurse will be responsible for interpreting telemetry data and managing dysrhythmias.

The unit typically sees a mix of surgical cases, including a large orthopedic program, colorectal surgeries, vascular procedures, and bariatric surgery.

Travelers are not expected to care for pediatric patients or hold PALS certification.

Floating within units of equivalent or lower acuity may be required.

The average daily census is approximately 30, with a patient to nurse ratio of 1 : 5.

All staff must provide weekend coverage, with an expectation of working every other weekend.

Special equipment used on the unit includes patient lifts, PCA pumps, telemetry monitoring systems, and capnography.

Nurses will work alongside interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy.
