Job description

Overview

Manufacturing Engineering Manager Aerospace role at Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. Location : Connecticut (Manchester and Columbia).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Manufacturing and Project Engineering teams in Columbia and Manchester, CT to deliver high-quality technical support for the aerospace business, focusing on accountability, efficiency, and learning; align with site and division strategies and initiatives.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing procedures and processes; establish and enhance robust machining methods and tooling for production; maintain accurate manufacturing standards.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing operations to develop a world-class operating system.
  • Identify capital requirements to improve current processes.
  • Develop and implement a cross-training plan and maintain workforce skills (CNC programming, machine automation, sheet metal fabrication); conduct performance reviews and development discussions.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and foster a culture of problem solving, continuous improvement (Kaizen / Lean); implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions; reduce scrap and rework.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace or Systems Engineering or related technical field
  • Six+ years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer or equivalent
  • Three+ years in a managerial / leadership role in a manufacturing setting
  • Ability to research, compile and analyze data for reports and decision making
  • Strong working knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean tools and methodologies
  • Background in machining, metal forming or complex assembly is a plus
