Hiring Backup Caregivers for Childcare

Location :  Santa Clara & San Mateo Counties

Schedule :  On-call / Flexible hours (Monday–Friday, occasional weekends)

Pay : $22 per hour

As a  Backup Caregiver , you’ll step in to care for children ranging from infants to school-aged kids in a  safe, engaging, and nurturing environment . You’ll support working families by ensuring their little ones are happy, secure, and having fun while parents handle their workday stress-free.

What You’ll Do

Provide age-appropriate care, supervision, and play for children (infants through 12 years old).

Follow established routines and care plans to ensure safety and comfort.

Maintain open, positive communication with parents and the Bright Horizons team.

Support daily routines, including meals, naps, creative play, and learning activities.

Ensure a clean, organized, and child-friendly environment.

Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years old.

Must obtain HCA (register yourself with the state of California, background check and negative TB test)

High school diploma or GED required; coursework in Early Childhood Education a plus.

Experience caring for children  in a home, center, or school setting (minimum 6 months preferred).

Ability to complete a  background check ,  CPR / First Aid certification , and required online training.

Friendly, reliable, and flexible — ready to adapt to different home or center environments.
