Job descriptionMust be eligible or hold State of Delaware Certification as a School Counselor Master’s degree preferred; School Counseling; Certified School Counselor or experience as a school-based mental health provider A minimum of 2 yrs. counseling experience, school counseling experience is strongly preferred Experience with and commitment to working with Middle School-aged children on Grades 6 to 8, including an understanding of their developmental, social, and academic needs Proficient in Technology, Microsoft Office Applications, Children’s Educational Software etc. Demonstrates sensitivity to diversity issues impacting various cultural, ethnic and socioeconomic groups Shows evidence of knowledge regarding practices known to be effective in promoting student learning to increase student achievement Regular attendance is an essential function of the position A shared understanding of the mission of the School and a demonstrated commitment to the core principles of equity, inclusion and access Favorable Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse Registry Check for the candidate who is offered employment Tuberculin Test Mandatory Direct Deposit of paycheck

SCHOOL COUNSELOR - Grades 6 to 8
Terms of Employment : Until the end of the current school year
Compensation : Pays up to $55 per hour
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities related to the Charter. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Essential Responsibilities :
- Strong writing skills as well as communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task effectively
- Maintain a good rapport with all constituencies; students, parents and colleagues
- Strong communication (verbal, written, interpersonal) skills and leadership qualities
