Buyer II
The Buyer II is responsible for managing moderately complex procurement activities for a broad range of materials, supplies, and services, supporting operational and project requirements. This role conducts bid evaluations, negotiates pricing, delivery, and quality terms, and selects suppliers in alignment with technical specifications and regulatory standards. The Buyer II oversees the full procurement lifecycle, including resolving supplier issues related to claims, returns, cancellations, and engineering changes, and conducts supplier site visits to assess production capabilities and performance. Leveraging experience in aerospace procurement and strong supplier management skills, the Buyer II ensures effective sourcing, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement of procurement processes to support organizational objectives.
Responsibilities and Tasks :
- Responsible for sourcing materials, managing supplier relationships, issuing purchase orders, and maintaining optimal inventory levels to support production schedules
- This role is critical to ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of high reliability components that meet stringent quality and performance standards
- To create Requests for Proposals (RFP) in support of Programs in response to customer requirements.
- Represents the Company in negotiations
- Places calls or Releases against Subcontracts and tracks performance against Prime Contracts
- Reviews System for receipt of units. Once found places the order, enters the Purchase Order (PO), prints a hardcopy, and ensures the Acknowledgements
- Supports Programs and Operations with Prices, Sources, and turnaround time as needed to further and increase the business base
- Performs all the duties of a Buyer as needed to support the Company
- Develop & maintain strong relationships w / suppliers to ensure quality, delivery & cost targets are met
- Collaborate with program managers and other stakeholders to develop procurement strategies, determine requirements, and establish procurement timelines
- Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with suppliers to ensure fair and favorable contracts for the DoD
- Cross functional collaboration with engineering, quality and production team
- Support Cost Savings / Cost Avoidance / Cost Reduction initiatives through alternate sourcing or improved purchasing strategies and value engineering projects
Education, Experience & License or Certification :
Bachelor's Degree with 2+ years of experienceOr, Associate's degree with 4+ years of experienceSkills and Abilities :
