About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse

Certifications : BLS, NIHSS preferred, ACLS is preferred

Must-Have :

• Strong Neuro experience
• Proficiency and frequency with G-tubes
• Recent Epic experience
• NIHSS in hand at the time of submission

Description :

The unit has 20 beds available.

Patient ratios are 1 : 5-6 for floor patients.

Common diagnoses include neurosciences, DBS, stroke, seizures, surgical / post-op spines, and neurological disorders.

Titration is typically done by physician's orders.

Protocols may allow for titration with education provided.

Common titratable or set rate drips include Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, dopamine, Nipride, Ketamine, Lasix, Bumex, and Insulin.

Charge Nurse is present 24 / 7.

There are nurse aides available on the unit with ratios of 1 : 7-10.

Respiratory Therapy is available 24 / 7.

RNs are not required to have vent experience.

Monitoring techs are present, and RNs do not need to read strips.

RNs document verification of monitor techs' strip readings in the charting system.

Weekends may include Friday through Sunday or Saturday through Monday.

Travelers are expected to be flexible with scheduling, including holidays.

Floating may occur to various units as needed.

Scrub colors include any combination of white and royal blue.

A cancellation policy allows for 2 shifts per 13-week contract.

The charting system used is Epic.
