$110,000–$140,000 | Newport News, VA | Interim Secret Clearance Required
Secure and sustain the backbone of national defense—administer, optimize, and protect RHEL and Windows systems in mission-critical classified environments.
A Day in the Life – What You’ll Do
Manage, configure, and troubleshoot both Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Windows Server environments
Maintain Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy infrastructure
Monitor and administer network devices, firewalls, and security controls
Support deployment and optimization of virtual environments using VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM
Manage storage systems, including XFS NAS in virtualized environments (e.g., TrueNAS)
Apply patches, monitor logs, and enforce cybersecurity policies using firewalld, SELinux, Windows Firewall, etc.
Implement and manage VPNs, user access controls, and endpoint protection
Troubleshoot network and system-level issues in hybrid Linux / Windows environments
Automate tasks and deployments using Bash, PowerShell, Ansible, and basic Terraform scripting
Mentor junior admins and collaborate across cybersecurity, IA, and DevOps teams
Maintain and document system configurations, procedures, and compliance checkpoints
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
8–10 years of relevant systems and network administration experience
Active Interim Secret clearance
CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified : Windows Server Fundamentals, or RHCSA (Red Hat Certified System Administrator)
Experience with :
RHEL 8 / 9 and command-line tools (Bash, YUM / DNF)
Windows Server 2022, Active Directory, IIS, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
Virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM)
Network configurations (IP addressing, VLANs, firewalls, VPNs)
XFS NAS administration in virtualized environments
Troubleshooting in hybrid Linux / Windows networks
Automation tools (Bash, PowerShell, Python, Ansible, Terraform)
Documentation and team collaboration in classified environments
Preferred Qualifications
Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
CompTIA Security+ or similar cybersecurity certifications
Advanced AD administration (Forest, Trusts, GPOs)
Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
Experience deploying and managing Kubernetes clusters
Advanced scripting with PowerShell, Ansible, or Terraform
Experience with :
Layer 3 networking, NAT, VPN, ACLs, PKI, TLS
Network security monitoring tools (Elastic Stack, Wireshark, IDS / IPS)
Disaster recovery planning and tools (Veeam, snapshots, replication)
Security Information and Event Management (SIEM)
Endpoint security and patch management
Familiarity with SCCM, MDT, or similar imaging / configuration management tools
