Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking a Med / Surg Tele RN with NY licensure, Epic experience, and the ability to manage complex patient diagnoses.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Position is on the Med / Surg Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
  • Patient ratios are 5 : 1 during days / evenings (can stretch to 6-7 : 1) and 6-7 : 1 at night (can stretch to 8-9 : 1)
  • Patient population includes cancer, sickle cell crisis, sepsis, and organ failure
  • Shift is nights (3x12 hours), from 19 : 00 to 07 : 00
  • Every other weekend is required
  • EPIC is used for charting; EMR experience required
  • Travelers will float within scope to similar units as needed
  • No on-call required
  • Registered nurses are responsible for management of PICC and central lines
  • Patient care technicians handle vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and activities of daily living
  • Uses CADD pumps, SCD pumps, wound vacs, and tube feeding pumps
  • Must adhere to isolation precautions
  • Scrub attire must be any combination of navy and white
  • No holiday time off; RTO is limited to 7 days
  • Travelers who reside within 75 miles of the facility are not eligible
  • First-time travelers are accepted if they meet all requirements

  • Active NY RN license required and must be in hand for consideration
  • Minimum one year recent Med / Surg or Telemetry nursing experience required
  • BLS certification is required
  • Epic charting experience required; first-time US travelers must have Epic experience
  • Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias, respond to rapid response calls, and manage peripheral lines and non-invasive airway equipment
