About the Role

As a Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you will provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will help students with daily activities, offer moral support, and deliver tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

Details

• In-person tutoring in Monterey Park, CA
• Schedule: 25 hours per week, 5–6 sessions a week for 1–2 hours
• Pay range: $25–$35 per hour

Ideal Candidate

• Credentialed teacher with experience supporting students with ASD and hearing differences.
• Knowledgeable in ASL and skilled in integrating it into academic instruction.
• Experienced in reading instruction, language development, and comprehension strategies for students performing below grade level.
• Patient, calm, and structured, with the ability to adapt lessons and interventions to the student's individual learning profile.
• Creative and engaging, able to leverage student interests to encourage participation and learning.
• Familiar with strategies to manage frustration, self‑injurious behaviors, and other emotional responses in students with ASD.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individualized instruction in reading fluency, comprehension, and critical thinking skills.
• Support expressive and receptive language and communication development, integrating ASL as appropriate.
• Use structured strategies, visual supports, timers, and reinforcement to manage frustration and build engagement.
• Implement routines and multi‑sensory methods to support focus, retention, and task completion.
• Monitor academic progress and communicate effectively with caregivers and school personnel.
• Incorporate the student's interests—Disney movies, drawing, schedules, and cartoons—into lesson activities to enhance motivation and engagement.
• Provide guidance and support for homework completion, particularly in the hybrid high school program.
