Equipment Operator III (E) - Street Cleaning- 2nd Shift

Second Shift Street Maintenance Worker

This is skilled work in the safe and efficient operation of heavy and specialized automotive equipment and / or supervision of a crew engaged in maintenance or construction activities which includes minor repair and servicing. Work may involve filling in for a supervisor in his / her absence. Work is performed independently under the general direction of the supervisor.

This is a 2nd shift position with work hours of : Monday-Friday, 3 : 30 PM-12 : 00 AM and will include on call weekend rotation and snow removal. Bargaining Unit : Service Employee's International (SEIU). Employees within the department of division shall be given first consideration.

Examples of Work Performed :

• Operates heavy equipment to perform assigned street cleaning duties, maintenance such as but not limited to pot hole repair or other construction task like street sign replacement. Examples of equipment operated include, but are not limited to, Global and Pelican street sweepers, backhoes, loaders, skid steers and dump truck trailer.
• Specializes in a specific operation and ensures that it is done well.
• Performs mechanical maintenance and service work on equipment operated including but not limited to Global and Pelican street sweepers removal and replacement of brooms.
• Assists supervisors in various phases of operations, including daily assignments of work tasks and completion of paperwork.

Please note that this position is part of a random drug testing pool, and employees are subject to random drug testing in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.

Offers of employment are contingent upon passing a pre-employment physical, which includes drug screening, and upon satisfactory evaluation of the results of a criminal record check.

Starting pay for current City employees will be determined by City of Wichita policy or applicable bargaining unit agreement.
