Base pay range : $73,900.00 / yr - $86,900.00 / yr

Employer : Fox Valley Technical College

Worksite : Appleton Main Campus

Hours Per Week : 22.86

End date : This is a limited-term position with an expected duration of May 18, 2026.

Job Description Summary

Communication Skills Instructors are responsible for the facilitation of student learning and the on-going development of curriculum that meets the needs of students and employers utilizing instructional strategies that promote student success.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Learning Facilitation - Develop appropriate instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs and support student engagement. Create learning experiences that integrate instructional technologies and multiple delivery methodologies (hybrid, in-person, virtual, online).
  • Assessment - Assess student learning and provide regular feedback. Use data to measure quality outcomes (persistence, retention, completion rate, course success, learning) and design improvement strategies based on evidence.
  • Curriculum Development - Develop and revise curriculum and instructional materials that are competency-based, current, and aligned with employer expectations and college documentation standards.
  • Classroom Management - Fulfill assigned schedule, maintain attendance and grade records, ensure safe and engaging instructional environment, and ensure materials are available to students.
  • Team Participation - Engage in division, department and team activities, meetings, planning, development, budgeting, and stay current with internal and external changes.
  • Business & Community Engagement - Build relationships with community, industry, and clinical partners; participate in advisory committees and recruitment activities; promote the College and programs.
  • Student Success & Support - Advocate for students, collaborate with Student Services to retain students and close achievement gaps; advise on schedules, career information, internships, and program details.
  • Professional Development - Improve knowledge and teaching practices through professional development, networking with regional industry leaders, and integration of new techniques and technology; maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and licensure for accreditation.

Non-Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Attend Communication Skills faculty meetings
  • Hold weekly office hours
  • Minimum Qualifications

    Education and / or Experience Requirements :

  • Master's degree in English, Communication, or related field, OR
  • Master's degree and 18 graduate credits in English, Communication, or related field, OR
  • Master's degree AND appropriate licensure in the discipline or subfield they teach.
  • Licenses, Certifications, And Other Requirements

  • Proficiency utilizing learning management system, Blackboard Ultra.
  • Teaching or training experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Adapt quickly to changing demands and meet student needs.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with various audiences.
  • Engage in continuous improvement in instruction through innovative methodologies and technology.
  • Background check will be conducted prior to hire and will be considered in determining suitability.
  • Additional Information

  • Pay range : $73,900.00 - $86,900.00 {pay is prorated based on weekly hours}.
  • Work must be completed in person at least three days per week. Work is typically in a classroom. Work environment may change based on college needs.
