About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse

Shift : Day and Night shifts, variable

Hours per Shift : 12 hours

Experience : Minimum of 2 years in telemetry, mechanical ventilation, and high-acuity units required

License : Valid DC RN Licensure; Pending DC license accepted but must have license prior to start date

Certifications : BLS, ACLS

Must-Have :

1. 2 years of experience : telemetry, vents, high acuity unit required

2. 1 prior travel assignment completed; first-time travelers screened

3. Pulmonary artery line experience preferred

4. Level 1 trauma and post-operative experience preferred

Description :

The CVICU RN will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients post-cardiac and major vascular surgeries.

The unit operates with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1 : 2.

Interdisciplinary support is available, including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, social services, pharmacy, and transportation.

Common patient diagnoses include those recovering from cardiac and major vascular surgery, and heart failure on temporary mechanical circulatory support.

Special procedures involve management of devices such as VAD, CRRT, and IABP.

Nurses are expected to float within units of equivalent or lower levels of acuity as required.

Weekend coverage is included in the rotation.

Holidays are also part of the coverage expectations.
