Position Summary

The General Manager is accountable for the overall leadership, strategy, and performance of the hotel. This role drives revenue growth, profitability, guest loyalty, team culture, and brand standards while ensuring compliance with all legal, safety, and company requirements. The GM sets the vision for the property, leads cross-functional operations, and serves as the face of the hotel within the local community.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Culture

  • Model a people-first, service-driven culture aligned with the brand and the management company values.
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, coach, and retain a high-performing leadership team; maintain succession plans for all key roles.
  • Champion inclusion, belonging, and respectful workplaces; promptly address performance and conduct issues.

Operations Excellence

  • Ensure flawless daily operations across Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, F&B, and Sales / Events.
  • Ensure proper communication and flow of information via weekly leadership meetings and daily huddles.
  • Own property readiness : cleanliness, maintenance / PM programs, brand standards, and guest safety.
  • Oversee vendor contracts, inventory controls, and capital expenditure planning.
  • Ensure full compliance with Hilton brand standards and maintain certification by achieving a passing Hilton Quality Assurance (QA) score at all times.
  • Financial Management

  • Deliver budgeted GOP / NOI and cash-flow targets; track KPIs (RevPAR, ADR, OCC, GOPPAR).
  • Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets; approve expenses and POs per policy.
  • Optimize labor, cost of sales, and operating supplies through forecasting and scheduling discipline.
  • Safeguard assets and ensure accurate night audit, revenue integrity, and cash controls.
  • Revenue & Commercial Strategy

  • Lead weekly revenue meetings; align pricing, segmentation, distribution, and inventory strategies.
  • Partner with sales / marketing on local demand generation, key accounts, groups, and partnerships.
  • Monitor comp set, market trends, and STR / benchmarking data; execute corrective actions.
  • Guest Experience & Brand Compliance

  • Achieve top-tier GSS / online review scores; respond to feedback within SLA and resolve escalations.
  • Maintain full compliance with brand standards, QA, and audit requirements.
  • Ensure all operations, facilities, and guest touchpoints reflect Hilton Brand Standard of Excellence , and achieve / maintain a passing Hilton QA score in all required assessments.
  • Be visible to guests; foster relationships with repeat / loyalty members and key clients.
  • Risk, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations (e.g., wage / hour, OSHA, ADA / accessible accommodations, food safety, fire / life safety).
  • Lead property safety committee, emergency preparedness, incident response, and reporting.
  • Enforce policies on data privacy, PCI, and information security; complete required trainings.
  • Community & Management Company Relations

  • Represent the property with asset managers, brand representatives, and community partners.
  • Prepare timely owner reports, forecasts, and business reviews; execute agreed asset strategy.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • 5+ years progressive hotel leadership experience including department head; 2+ years in a #1 or #2 property leadership role strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a limited-service hotel environment , preferably with Hilton-branded properties , is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated P&L ownership with success driving RevPAR, market share, and GOP.
  • Experience with PMS, CRS, RMS, POS, and financial / reporting systems; proficiency in MS Office / Google Workspace.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays as business requires.

  • Strategic planning, commercial acumen, and data-driven decision making.
  • Inspirational leadership, coaching, and communication skills (verbal, written, presentation).
  • Operational mastery across Rooms, Housekeeping, Engineering, and (if applicable) F&B.
  • Strong problem solving, conflict resolution, and change management.
  • High integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Frequently stands / walks; occasionally lifts / pushes / pulls up to 25–50 lbs.
  • Works in typical hotel environment with variable noise levels and temperature; extended periods on feet may be required.

  • Schedule & Travel

  • Full-time with extended / flexible hours based on business needs; on-call availability required.
  • Occasional travel for owner meetings, brand conferences, and training.
