Overview
Staff Structural Transmission Line Designer at Black & Veatch. This role supports engineering and design teams by developing and modifying technical deliverables and applying foundational engineering principles to create design concepts and solutions.
Responsibilities
- Engineering Standards : Apply knowledge of standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, applicable codes and Black & Veatch policies and procedures.
- Quality / Continuous Improvement : Proactively apply the Black & Veatch Quality Program to deliverables; review design inputs for consistency and ensure deliverables comply with codes and standards suitable for the project.
- Engineering Production : Apply basic engineering principles and established design practices to develop design concepts and deliverables; perform design calculations, material quantities and estimates; may review the deliverables of others; define work assignments and maintain schedules; may program control systems or participate in plant start-up activities.
- Project Coordination : Coordinate with other design group personnel to review and exchange project information; may support field activities.
- Client Focus : Focus on the needs of internal clients while understanding external client interests and drivers.
- Knowledge Sharing, Innovation and Technology : Proactively share knowledge of technologies and processes; apply judgment in deliverables and input interpretation.
- People Management : May assist with performance management, mentoring, and guidance to less experienced engineering technicians.
Qualifications and Skills
Preferred Qualifications : Diploma or Certificate; Associate Degree in Drafting or Engineering Design Technology; typically a minimum of 5 years related work experience.Technical Skills : Proficiency with Autodesk AutoCAD, Bentley MicroStation (2D / 3D) or PLS-CADD; experience with CADD or other electronic applications; knowledge of engineering standards, document control, and Black & Veatch policies; intermediate to advanced understanding of related disciplines; basic knowledge of construction and constructability; basic knowledge of procurement and contract administration.Minimum Qualifications : Typically a minimum of 5 years related work experience.Certifications : Relevant certifications as required by the role.Work Environment
