Supervisory Special Mission Aviator (Instructor)
The primary purpose of the SUPERVISORY SPECIAL MISSION AVIATOR (INSTRUCTOR), GS-2185-11, is to supervise special mission aviation operations and ensures that SMAs are current and qualified and appropriately manned for the HH-60G and CV-22 aircraft. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance.
California National Guard Membership is required : This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the California National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Compatible Military Assignment and Grade are required. Military technicians must be assigned to a military position in the same unit which they are employed or, in a unit that is supported by the employing activity. Military technicians must hold the military grade specified for the position.

Recruitment / Relocation Incentive MAY BE authorized, subject to funding and approval. Relocation Costs IS NOT authorized based on determination that Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move is not in the Government best interest. Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance. Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards. Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Security Clearance : at a minimum a National Agency Check is required.
General Experience : Possess experience, education or training in preparing aircraft loading plans; knowledge of aircraft weight and balance computations; aircraft performance data; aircraft records maintenance; and aircraft systems; and knowledge of aircraft systems and component.
SUPERVISORY SPECIAL MISSION AVIATOR (INSTRUCTOR), GS-2185-11 : Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-09 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. Specialized experience may have been demonstrated by performing duties such as : planning, organizing and directing activities of Special Mission Aviator (Instructors); Balancing workload and providing advice, guidance, and direction on a wide range of flight engineer and administrative issues; Ensuring metrics are established and monitored to assess key result areas for successful mission accomplishment; and ensures all requisites involved in mission planning are ascertained and all necessary coordination is accomplished.
