We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to drive the Design for Serviceability (DFS) . In this role, you will evaluate form, fit, function, access, and analysis of our products, present comprehensive reports and opportunities to reduce cost, time, and motion, and collaborate with Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Design, and Prototyping to support service optimization. You will also work with the field team to identify changes that improve overall serviceability and maintainability and, through field feedback, design and provide required tooling.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to drive Serviceability (Design for Serviceability).
  • Evaluate part and assembly design from concept through manufacturing introduction for hand clearance, tooling clearance, ergonomics, and feasibility of component replacement.
  • Develop service part release strategy and maintain the Service BOM for spare parts planning.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate components and electromechanical systems.
  • Work with manufacturing engineers on the build of new product iterations.
  • Identify the need for specialized tooling and guide the tooling team for design ideation and tool development.
  • Contribute to requirements definition related to service, product availability, and reliability.
  • Provide comprehensive cost / time modeling to identify opportunities that reduce cost or complexity of repairs.
  • Work with technical writers to establish the repair process.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 4-6 years of engineering experience
  • Experience in mechanical engineering within a product design and manufacturing environment
  • Experience designing and developing products through the lifecycle
  • Ability to design for a wide range of fabrication and manufacturing processes
  • Experience with product and process validation
  • Tooling and / or equipment design experience
  • Ability to manage projects autonomously
  • Salary

  • $90,000 - $100,000 per year
  • The actual salary offered depends on factors including location, knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience
