The City of Pearland, TX is seeking to hire a full-time Utility Mechanic to lead and improve aspects of the day-to-day operations of our Utilities - Lift Station division . Are you service-oriented? Could you excel in a fast-paced environment? If so, you may be perfect for this position!

The Utility Mechanic earns a competitive salary of $21.83-$23.63 / hour based on experience and qualifications . Additionally, the city pays all premiums for our employees' dental, long-term disability protection, and life insurance plus the majority portion of the medical premium for employees and their dependents. A DAY IN THE LIFE AS THE UTILITY MECHANIC

• Daily, inspects all plant equipment and maintains a log of inspections.
• Maintains, repairs, and replaces water treatment plant valves, motors, pumps, chemical feeders, chemical storage and sludge handling equipment, mixers, basins and associated parts and hardware.
• Responsibilities include, but are not limited to changing oil, greasing bearings, removing debris from the raw water intake, and assisting operators with cleaning basins.
• Trouble-shoots mechanical malfunctions. Conducts regularly scheduled preventive maintenance on plant equipment.
• Generates requests for parts and equipment needed to carry out repairs and maintenance and other approved projects.
• Coordinates with outside contractors, engineers, and vendors on maintenance projects.
