The Roads and Grounds unit of the Division of Facilities and Services at West Virginia University is accepting applications for a Lead Campus Service Worker.

The Lead Campus Service Worker will provide support services to the Institution. Provide leadership in setting up for special events, moves, and completing requests in support of academics.

What you'll do :
Assists in filling the duties of the supervisor when he is o annual or sick leave, etc.
Functions as a team leader in relocation of offices, classrooms, and set-ups for special events by performing duties associated with a Campus Service Worker I position, ensuring departmental personnel are aware of schedules for moves. Trains new employees on proper techniques and operation of equipment, adjusting daily task assignments to meet changes in need and priorities, and informing supervisor of problem areas.
Acts as an on-the-job trainer of other employees in performance of assigned tasks. Is a source of experience and expert guidance in the Labor department. Responsible for maintaining knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment to satisfactory levels.
Is knowledgeable and experienced in setting up for special events such as Commencement, concerts, President's Office events, academic requests, registration, etc. Includes set-up of tents, staging, special platforms, bleachers, tables, chairs, etc.
Provides daily reports on actual progress versus projected progress to Supervisor. Maintains the original scope of project to ensure project cost control. Informs Supervisor of needed discipline and performance problems. Ensures that work group processes all work requests, material requisitions, weekly reports, and invoices necessary to complete assignments according to Physical Plant operation.
Functions as a team leader while performing duties associated with a Campus Service Worker position. Follows procedures and makes work assignments to those individuals assigned to the crew to ensure work is completed in a timely fashion ensuring proper quality and quantity. Inspects completed work assignments of the Campus Service Worker to ensure quality control. Ensures that proper safety procedures are used while performing job duties.
Receives work orders. Interfaces with Work Control, Supervisor, Managers and requesting party to finalize needs and scope. Responsible for filling out work requests accurately as needed in completing job assignments. Communicates work schedules and goals to employees and customer, creating efficiency and a timely completion of assigned tasks.
Provides continual inspection of assigned area to ensure assignments are completed on schedule.
Relocates offices and classrooms within buildings and throughout campus by lifting, loading and unloading furniture, file cabinets, boxes, etc. onto hand-trucks, dollies, and box vans for transportation. May require removing desk components, doors, and shelves to ease in relocations. Moves, sets-up, rearranges, and erects tables, chairs, platforms, bleachers, tents, displays, etc. May assist in the design for special event set-ups. Reads floor plans and layouts for concerts, registration, commencement, and other special statewide University affiliated events. Drive box vans, forklifts, front loaders, small dump trucks and operate lift gates. Operates, maintains, and services equipment and tools that are used while performing moves, set-ups, sanitation services, and snow removal.
Operates motor vehicle (i.e. car, box van, pickup truck, fork lift, front loader, small dump truck to transport people, to deliver / receive surplus for inventory control. To deliver, receive, or remove surplus materials for shops and equipment throughout the campus and community and statewide. Unloads and stores supplies, rotating stock and equipment at various job sites. Establishes and maintains inventory of department throughout institutional buildings, warehouse, or stockroom on equipment, e.g. tables, chairs, tents, staging, platforms, etc.

Hours : 7a-3p
High School diploma or GED required.
Qualifications
Directly related work experience including custodial and labor assignments with a commercial or industrial setting.
