POSITION SUMMARY

The safety and production lead is responsible for safe production at plant operations, including daily safety and health tasks to support compliance, and interacting with plant personnel to achieve high safety, production, efficiency, and housekeeping standards. Responsibilities also include safety and health administration, training, auditing, and providing direction for location safety and health compliance.

This position will be based out of Hunter Stone Quarry in New Braunfels, TX, but will also assist the safety team with visits to the Austin plant locations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Lead safety programs and assist in safety metrics tracking
  • Follow-up on training for all plant and mine hourly employees
  • Perform office duties, plant duties, equipment repairs, and operate mobile equipment
  • Work with team members to meet production and maintenance goals
  • Conduct safety, housekeeping, and mechanical inspections
  • Implement safety rules and regulations per federal, state, local, and company standards
  • Assist in developing mining and profit plans, AFE's, and forecasts
  • Maintain safety and training records
  • Coordinate scheduled equipment maintenance
  • Participate in the plant safety committee
  • Complete daily reports accurately
  • Maintain plant appearance and product quality standards
  • Assist in training co-workers
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or GED; occupational health and safety certification is a plus
  • MSHA Blue card preferred
  • Safety Certifications preferred
  • 1-2 years supervisory or related experience preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of quarry operations required
  • Valid driver's license required
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of MSHA regulations and compliance
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment
  • Computer skills
  • Effective communication skills in English and preferably Spanish
  • Teamwork, organizational, presentation, and training skills
  • Knowledge of plant components and costs
  • Willingness to grow within the company
  • Valid driver's license, good driving history, and meeting insurance requirements
  • Willingness to travel within the division and district
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Lift up to 50 pounds
  • Climb ladders and work at heights up to 350'
  • Work on mobile equipment, perform manual tasks for extended periods
  • Visual, speech, hearing, manual dexterity skills
  • WORKING CONDITIONS

    Work in all weather conditions, exposure to dust, noise, and hazards. Must use proper PPE.
