Job Description

Job Title : Adventure Program Facilitator FLSA Status : Seasonal- Summer Camp Staff

Department : Camp Services Reports To : Program Manager

Location : Camp Texlake Rate : $450 / week

Job Purpose : The Adventure Program Facilitator will enrich camper’s experience by designing and implementing High Ropes, Challenge Course, Rock Wall, Zipline and other activities that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the campers’ age and abilities. The Program Facilitator will work closely with the Program Manager to ensure the programming is adequately supported and properly executed.

Essential Functions

• Ensure the safety of all campers and staff at activities and beyond while at camp.
• Provide innovative, progressive programming for first time and returning participants.
• Planning, implementing, and enthusiastically participating in various camper activities.
• Coordinate closely with Program Manager daily in order to ensure clear communication of expectations and accommodation of special needs or requests of campers, families, staff or volunteers.
• Maintain accurate facility and equipment usage logs and alert the Program Manager when new equipment or facility repairs are required.
• Manages and maintains the physical facilities and equipment in program areas assigned to the specifications of the American Camp Association, Health Department regulations, and GSUSA Safety Activity Checkpoints.
• Ensures campers and staff follow health and safety standards set by the organizations above.
• Managing camper behavior, enforcing appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and applying appropriate behavior-management techniques.
• Properly set up and close High Ropes, Rock Wall and Zip Line for each participant group.
• Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior.
• Promote and support the Girl Scout program philosophies of the GSUSA & GSCTX in a positive manner to the public and co-workers.
• Maintaining effective working relationships with staff and creating harmonious relationships with campers, parents, and staff.
• Provide quality camper experience that resolves concerns in a timely manner.
• Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned, including participation in camper activities such as (but not limited to) : cook out, check in, check out, all camp activities, themed days or meals, and duties at meals.
• Assisting with daily, weekly, and end of season camp cleaning responsibilities.
• Engages in problem-solving skills, by clarifying desired information, researching, locating and delivering findings and solutions.
• Displays professional demeanor, and integrity at all times.
• Maintains strict confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
• Ability to effectively interact, work, and collaborate with people of various cultural backgrounds and promote an environment of inclusivity.
• Adheres to the policies of the Girl Scouts of Central Texas and promotes Girl Scouting in a positive manner to the public as well as to all internal and external customers.
• Performs other duties or assists other projects as assigned.
