Join us as a Senior Applied AI Data Scientist for the Amazon Nova Solutions team at Amazon Web Services (AWS). This is an exciting opportunity for an AI-focused data scientist who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about building innovative solutions.
In this role, you will collaborate with Foundation Model (FM) teams and both internal and external Generative AI customers to customize foundation models and contribute to the development of next-generation applications. You will advocate for our customers, guiding them through best practices while exploring new avenues for enhancing their experiences.
We seek a candidate with significant technical expertise in large language models, including hands-on experience with model evaluation and fine-tuning techniques. A strong understanding of AI frameworks and model customization tools such as PyTorch, TensorBoard, MLFlow / W&B, Bedrock, and SageMaker is essential.
This role demands high visibility, requiring excellent communication skills to articulate insights at all levels. The ability to analyze metrics and customer feedback to measure business impact is crucial. We value a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and adaptability in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a Customer Advisor by implementing and deploying cutting-edge ML solutions within Generative AI. Develop prototypes and proofs of concept while closely engaging with customers.
- Showcase Thought Leadership by promoting AWS Generative AI services through blogs, white papers, reference architectures, and events (such as AWS Summit and AWS re : Invent).
- Facilitate the design, construction, and migration of applications and services utilizing Amazon Nova FM, AWS Bedrock, and other Generative AI capabilities.
- Engage with customers to identify their business challenges and help in building effective Generative AI systems.
- Educate customers on the value proposition of the Amazon Nova FM ecosystem and demonstrate the possibilities of what can be achieved.
- Drive strategies for evaluation, including metric design and evaluation datasets tailored for real-world applications.
- Lead discussions and design initiatives to create robust solutions with Amazon Nova FM.
- Contribute to AWS publications aimed at customers, including whitepapers, workshops, demos, and proofs of concept.
- Build lasting relationships with customer engineering, product, and science leaders.
About Our Team : The Amazon Nova Applied AI Solutions Team plays a pivotal role in bridging Foundation Model science, engineering, and product teams with internal Amazon groups that utilize these technologies to deliver substantial business value. We assist customers in building Generative AI applications and apply insights to enhance Foundation Models continuously.
Basic Qualifications
Master's degree in statistics, mathematics, data science, business analytics, engineering, or computer science.5+ years of end-to-end technical architecture, design, deployment, and operation experience on Generative AI / ML platforms and applications.3+ years of working with technologies related to large language models, including LLM architectures and model evaluation.Experience in designing, implementing, and consulting for Machine Learning / AI / Deep Learning solutions.Knowledge of relevant technology domains, such as software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, and data & analytics.Preferred Qualifications
Proven experience optimizing ML workloads through model compression, distillation, pruning, quantization, and transformer-based optimization techniques.Familiarity with open-source frameworks for LLM-powered applications such as LangChain and LlamaIndex, with a strong ability to develop and optimize prompts for LLM behavior.Experience in designing, deploying, and evaluating LLM-powered agents and tools, with strong skills in engaging with senior stakeholders about trade-offs and best practices.Experience with AWS technologies including SageMaker, Step Functions, OpenSearch, PgVector, S3, IAM, Cognito, EC2, Glue, and EMR.Experience with container technologies like Docker, Kubernetes / Fargate.Amazon is an equal opportunity employer.
