Overview

Mech Eng. Manager (Central), DC Design Engineering – AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead the Central Regions mechanical design group and be part of a global engineering team responsible for the design and continuous innovation of our rapidly expanding data center footprint. In this role you will manage a team of engineers that influence all aspects of Mechanical design, construction, operations, and maintenance for our global fleet of data centers. This includes coordination with discipline leads across the AMER regions. You will work with internal and external teams to define, design, detail, and document the various Mechanical features that our facilities require, using both prescriptive and performance-based design approaches. As an Owner, you will strive to ensure the Mechanical features of our buildings protect our people and keep our customer’s data safe and uninterrupted over the life of the building. We expect you to contribute your expertise to the continual improvement of our Mechanical design standards.

Responsibilities

• Be a leader within the group as well as within internal and external teams that support the data center.
• Driving improvement of design standards and project approaches across the organization.
• Coordinate with third party design vendors to review concept designs and designs in progress to ensure they meet established design standards, local code requirements, and any other requirements of the Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
• Be responsible for providing high quality Mechanical engineering advice on a wide variety of projects globally while working with global Mechanical engineering teams to achieve alignment of designs and design objectives.
• Coordinating with construction, commissioning, and risk management teams to answer requests for information and value engineering queries.
• Be responsible for construction documents, code compliance, design and installation standards, water supply evaluation and assessment, testing, inspections, and submittal review. Meet with AHJs as needed to ensure approval of Mechanical features.
• This position will require up to 25% travel.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $135,200 / year in our lowest geographic market up to $233,700 / year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and / or other benefits.
