Senior Hospital Billing Specialist

Pay : $22-$32 / hour (based on experience)

Schedule : Monday-Friday, 8 : 00 AM-4 : 30 PM (40 hours / week)

Start Date : November 17th (Tentative)

Location : Remote (open to NY and non-NY candidates; strong preference for NYS payer experience)

Type : 5-Month Contract-to-Hire through Medix Staffing

About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Hospital Billing Specialist to join a large healthcare organization's billing department. This role is perfect for someone who has deep experience with hospital claims , strong follow-up skills, and a solid understanding of A / R workflows. Experience with Sorian EMR is highly preferred, as well as familiarity with New York State payer guidelines - though we're open to strong hospital billers from other states (with the exception of those whose background is primarily Medicaid-only).

You'll be reviewing aging reports, working complex claims, resolving denials, and partnering with other teams to ensure clean, timely reimbursement. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys digging into claim issues and wants a stable, long-term contract with the possibility to convert.

What You'll Be Doing

Review aging A / R reports and follow up on outstanding hospital claims.

Submit appeals for denied or underpaid claims and correct billing rejections.

Work directly with insurance carriers, patients, and internal departments to resolve billing issues.

Post payments, adjustments, and write-offs accurately and on schedule.

Stay up to date on commercial payer guidelines; NYS experience is a plus.

Document account activity clearly and accurately in the billing system.

Work closely with coding, front desk, and medical records teams as needed.

Meet daily, weekly, and monthly productivity expectations.

Provide excellent support to patients who have billing questions.

Maintain HIPAA compliance and follow all company and regulatory policies.

What We're Looking For

Strong hospital billing background (required).

Sorian EMR experience (required / preferred depending on volume).

NYS payer experience preferred , but open to other backgrounds (no Medicaid-only candidates).

Comfortable working A / R, denials, appeals, and corrections.

Solid communication and follow-up skills; detail-oriented; self-driven.

Previous experience with Epic, Meditech, or Paragon is a plus.

Assignment Details

Length : 5-month contract with strong potential for conversion

Start Date : November 17th (Tentative)

Equipment : Provided by the client

IT Deposit : $50 / week withheld for the first 10 weeks (fully refunded when equipment is returned)

Employment & Benefits

You'll be employed by Medix Staffing for the duration of the assignment. Should you convert to the client, you'll transition to their payroll and benefits.
