The Role - As a Buyer you will be responsible for purchase of all or a specific portion of productive and / or non-productive materials, supplies, machinery, tooling and / or services. Responsible for actively participating in the development of commodity strategy, sourcing / negotiations, global / regional material budget execution, and collaborate with suppliers or internal partners. The work is of a sophisticated nature involving a considerable amount of initiative, analytical work and judgment.

Responsibilities : \n

  • You will be responsible for purchase of all or a specific portion of productive and / or non-productive materials, supplies, machinery, tooling and / or services.

\n

  • Responsible for actively participating in development of commodity strategy, sourcing / negotiations, global / regional material budget execution, and interface with suppliers or internal stakeholders.
  • \n

  • Work is of a complex nature involving a considerable amount of initiative, analytical work and a high level of independent judgment.
  • \n

  • Partner with Program Managers to represent purchasing and communicate program requirements / vehicle line overview.
  • \n

  • Nurture relationship with strategic suppliers by acting as a focal point for commercial issue resolution
  • \n \n

    Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) :

    \n

  • 2+ years relevant post-graduate work experience in purchasing, supply chain, program / product management, logistics or product development
  • \n

  • Demonstrates ability to execute with direction or support in the following competencies :
  • \n

  • \n Data Judgemen t - Ability to objectively analyze data and draw meaningful conclusions
  • \n

  • \n Informative Communication - Ability to communicate relevant information to the appropriate audience both effectively and timely
  • \n

  • \n Relationship Management - Develops and maintains constructive, cooperative working relationships
  • \n

  • At a minimum, has an emerging ability showcasing understanding of the process and willingness to learn and apply knowledge in the following competencies :
  • \n

  • \n Negotiation - engage in collaborative discussions to reach meaningful agreements
  • \n

  • \n Analytical Thinking - Consider various factors in decision making to determine solutions and their impacts
  • \n

  • \n Results Focus - Take charge without prompting, seize opportunities and deliver on time
  • \n

  • \n Workload Management - Manage multiple tasks with quality and prioritize by critical needs
  • \n

  • Ability to travel 5-10% Domestically + Internationally
  • \n

  • SAP experience or ability to learn purchasing systems
  • \n \n

    What Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications) :

    \n

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, related field
  • \n

  • Experience with commodities
  • \n

  • Cost analysis or manufacturing experience
  • \n

  • Automotive industry experience
  • \n

  • Knowledge of Capacity and Materials Management
  • \n

  • Capable of drawing conclusions from complex data, market trends and the regulatory environment
  • \n

  • Ability to understand basic engineering documents and technical drivers for the applicable commodities
  • \n

  • Knowledge of contract law as it applies to the purchasing processes
