Overview of the Role :
Join a leading clean energy company as a Transmission Line Principal Engineer and play a pivotal role in designing critical infrastructure for Wind, Solar, and Battery Energy Storage projects. This position offers the opportunity to manage high-impact transmission line projects from conception through construction, working with cutting-edge renewable energy technologies that power millions of homes across North America.
Key Responsibilities :
- Manage design of transmission line projects from conception through construction and commissioning, coordinating with engineering consultants under your direction
- Work with Early Stage Project Managers to define and influence project requirements and scope with the Development Group for FERC 1000 competitive transmission projects and greenfield projects
- Secure engineering consulting resources from approved suppliers by developing scope of work, securing bids, evaluating, and awarding work through the Integrated Supply Chain Group
- Coordinate with project stakeholders to develop and secure routes, support engineering data, and permits necessary to design and build transmission lines, including geotechnical and lidar data
- Competitively source, select and contract geotechnical, survey, engineering, and construction services, and support the E&C Cost Estimating Team with scope assumptions
- Coordinate engineering deliverables in support of competitive proposals, design and construction of projects, including Issued for Bid, Issued for Procurement, Issued for Construction, and As-built drawings, design criteria, and contributions to proposal documents
- Coordinate with other groups to ensure project success and represent E&C's internal and external interests on assigned projects, including presentations and briefings on current progress, issues, and risk mitigation in meetings with various levels of management
Required Skills & Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil / Structural EngineeringMinimum of 7 years of direct experience in the development, design, engineering, and construction of High Voltage Transmission line projectsStrong knowledge of transmission design, excellent communication and project management skills, a bias for action, proven analytical and problem-solving skills, and an ability to provide value engineering and ensure design qualityTechnical competence such as the ability to understand one line and three-line diagrams, general arrangements, plan and profiles and other common deliverablesTravel required within North AmericaProject Engineering and / or Project Management experience with a strong bias for action. PMP and / or P.E. in related discipline is a plusProficiency with standard industry tools such as PLSCADD, Microsoft products, Auto-CAD, Primavera and other software is strongly desiredCompetitive compensation up to $86 / hour depending on experiencePerks of Working with AP Recruiters & Associates :
