Med / Surg Tele RN Job Details

Location : Charlottesville, VA 22908 (Virginia nursing jobs)

Healthcare Setting : 22-bed acute care unit – general surgery and trauma

Assignment Type : 13-week travel nursing contract

Start Date : November 10, 2025

End Date : February 9, 2026

Shift : 12-hour nights (7 : 00 PM – 7 : 00 AM), 36 or 48 hours / week

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1800–$1840

Weekend / Holiday Requirement : Every other weekend; 2 out of 3 winter holidays

Time Off : Up to 40 hours pre-approved per contract

Charting System : Epic EMR

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia (pending license accepted, must have before start date)

Minimum 2 years of recent Med / Surg Tele RN experience (medical surgical telemetry)

BLS certification required; ACLS preferred

Previous travel nursing experience required

Experience with Epic charting system (Epic EMR)

BSN preferred

Willingness to float to other acute care units as needed

Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)

Professional references required

Med / Surg Tele RN Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality nursing care to post-surgical and trauma patients

Monitor patients using cardiac telemetry, capnography, and continuous pulse oximetry

Administer medications, blood products, and manage central / PICC lines, chest tubes, and surgical drains

Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias, titrate insulin drips, and provide wound care

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, physical therapy, respiratory, etc.)

Document patient care accurately in Epic EMR

Comply with hospital policies, including float and holiday requirements

Participate in rapid response and code teams as needed
