HOS Global Foods, known as House of Spices, is the leading importer and distributor of South Asian food in the USA. With over 50 years of experience and a dedicated team of 200+ employees across 12 distribution centers in North America, we are committed to delivering authentic ethnic food products that celebrate our rich culture.

This position will oversee all aspects of HR strategy and execution across our U.S. and Canadian operations, including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, DEIB, organizational development, and compliance. Reporting to the COO, this role will partner closely with senior leaders to align HR initiatives with business priorities and support scalable growth. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, sound judgment, and a passion for building great teams and culture.

Essential Functions

This position will oversee all aspects of HR strategy and execution across our U.S. and Canadian operations, including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, DEIB, organizational development, and compliance. Strategic Leadership :

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with company objectives.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to senior leadership, providing guidance on organizational structure, talent planning, and workforce development.

People Management & Culture :

  • Champion a positive, inclusive, and high-performing culture.
  • Lead employee engagement initiatives and act on feedback to enhance workplace satisfaction.
  • Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning :

  • Oversee end-to-end recruitment processes for all levels of the organization.
  • Develop workforce plans and talent pipelines to support future growth.
  • Performance Management & Development :

  • Design and implement performance review processes and succession planning.
  • Lead learning and development programs to build leadership and technical skills.
  • Compensation & Benefits :

  • Oversee compensation structure, salary benchmarking, and benefits administration.
  • Ensure competitive and equitable pay practices.
  • Compliance & Risk Management :

  • Ensure HR policies comply with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Manage employee relations and investigate / resolving workplace concerns.
  • Maintain compliance with employment laws across both U.S. and Canadian jurisdictions.
  • Partner with external counsel or consultants as needed to stay current on evolving legislation.
  • HR Operations & Systems :

  • Oversee HRIS systems, reporting, and analytics.
  • Continuously improve HR processes and systems to support scalability.
  • Develop and report on HR KPIs (e.g., turnover, time-to-fill, engagement scores) to measure impact and guide decision-making.
  • Change Management & Organizational Growth :

  • Support the business through periods of growth, change, or restructuring.
  • Lead HR due diligence and integration for acquisitions or expansions.
  • Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB)

  • Lead DEIB strategy and programming to ensure equitable access, representation, and belonging across all levels.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders (Ops, Sales, Finance) to align people strategy with business needs.
  • Requirements

  • Preferred Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Deep understanding of employment laws, HR best practices, and organizational development.
  • Proven experience building and scaling HR teams in high-growth or mid-sized companies.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) is a plus.
