LOA Benefits Specialist

Pay : 21 / hr

Duration- through the end of January with potential to FTE

Role Summary

The LOA Benefits Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring team members receive the support and resources they need during leaves of absence. This position is responsible for the day-to-day administration of LOA programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while delivering a seamless, compassionate experience for employees. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and empathy go hand in hand.

In this role, you'll manage LOA requests from start to finish, act as a primary point of contact for employees and supervisors, and coordinate with payroll and third-party providers to ensure all leave-related matters are handled efficiently and in compliance with company policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and track LOA requests, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and internal policies.
  • Serve as the primary contact for employees and managers regarding leave-related inquiries.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records by entering and updating employee data in the LOA system.
  • Monitor LOA email inbox and phone line, responding promptly and professionally to inquiries.
  • Administer payroll processing for employees on leave, including regular sick pay, extended sick pay, and vacation pay.
  • Coordinate with third-party insurance carriers regarding short-term disability claims and related questions.
  • Process employee premium payments received while on leave and manage delinquent or missed payments.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to ensure alignment across FMLA, Workers' Compensation, ADA accommodations, and employment termination processes.

Key Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in benefits administration, HR operations, or a related field (preferred).
  • Familiarity with ADP and Kronos systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • High school diploma preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
