SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST Special Education & Evaluation Services

Classification : Licensed 190-day calendar

Reports to : Special Education & Evaluation Services Administrator

FLSA Status : Exempt

POSITION OVERVIEW

One of the earliest forms of learning for a child is language. This position offers both roles of an evaluator and practitioner of speech / language skills and how that impacts overall access to learning. As a part of our team of extraordinary educators you will have the joy of witnessing the development of a students ability to connect with their world. This interesting and dynamic position offers opportunities to work closely with a team of evaluators to assess a student holistically to learn from each other and to grow in your skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Masters degree or higher.
  • One of the following :
  • Speech Language Pathology License as issued by the Oregon Board of Examiners in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.

    OR If licensed before 2015;

    Oregon Teaching License with Special Education : Communication Disorders endorsement and American Speech and Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competency in Speech-Language Pathology or actively pursuing this Certificate.

  • GENERAL INFORMATION

    This position has the following expectations and prerequisite abilities.

  • Maintain compliance with state and federal laws governing all aspects of our agency including ORS OAR IDEA FOIA and CIPA.
  • Exceptional prioritization of tasks timely completion of work assignments ability to take the initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrates respectful flexible and effective teambuilding skills of cooperation communication and active participation.
  • Present self and LBL in a professional manner including in oral and written communication professional disposition when working with others and maintaining professional dress standards.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directives find requested data and present in user-friendly formats for internal and public distribution.
  • Maintain regular attendance at work. Be punctual in meeting deadlines attending meetings and following schedules.
  • Utilize teleservice platform to provide services to educators students and district staff as directed.
  • Ability to sit in child-sized chairs for extended periods of time and / or sit on the floor for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift carry at least 25 pounds.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time in a vehicle or work setting.
  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    This is not necessarily an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities skills and duties associated with this position. The supervisor of this position may modify this list at any time its deemed necessary.

  • Provide or direct speech and / or language therapy and services to identified students with speech / language impairments.
  • Assist education staff in observing and referring students with suspected speech / language impairments.
  • Provide individual evaluations in speech and language and other areas that may be assigned to identify students with speech / language impairments..
  • Provide comprehensive written reports of observations assessment results and recommendations within the standards established by the SEES department.
  • Participate as a specialist in speech / language impairments in determining eligibility.
  • Prepare and implement Individualized Education Programs for identified students on caseload.
  • Participate in developing integrated goals with other education staff for students with multiple or other disabilities.
  • Serve as a resource and consultant to provide specialized suggestions and / or materials for use by regular classroom staff or parents in delivering speech / language services or generalizations of previously acquired skills.
  • Compile and maintain required service records and documentation for assigned students on caseload.
  • Assist the district in compliance with federal and state special education law requirements.
  • When assigned provide supervision and paperwork requirements of American SpeechLanguage Hearing Association (ASHA) Clinical Fellows as requested by agency or districts and assigned by the program administrator.
  • When assigned oversee activities supervision and paperwork requirements of Oregon Board of Examiners certified Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA).
  • Maintain confidentially at all times.
  • Adjust / adapt services as determined by work environments such as regular classroom or separate therapy room.
  • Participate in the Medicaid billing process for school-based services as directed.

  • Salary and benefit information shown are based on full-time employment (1.0 FTE) based on the current school year
  • Placement on the Linn Benton Lincoln ESD licensed salary schedule will be commensurate with applicants qualifications relevant training and experience
  • Linn Benton Lincoln ESD will provide an Insurance CAP to assist with health dental and vision insurance premiums
