Respiratory Therapist Job Details

Location : Plattsburgh, NY 12901 (New York healthcare jobs)

Setting : Hospital – Respiratory Care Unit

Assignment Duration : 16 weeks (Start : 12 / 8 / 2025 – End : 3 / 29 / 2026)

Shift : 12-hour nights (6 : 30pm – 7 : 00am), rotating as needed

Hours per Week : 36

Weekend / Holiday : Every other weekend and 2 out of 3 major holidays required

Floating : Required to hospital floors, nursery, and ER as needed

Documentation System : EPIC (preferred experience)

Medication System : Pyxis

Orientation : 2 days

Registered Respiratory Therapist Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of recent clinical experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Experience with neonatal and pediatric respiratory care (NRP certification or relevant exposure required)

Active NY Respiratory Therapist license or proof of application (New York RRT jobs)

Current certifications : BLS, ACLS, NRP, NBRC Verification

EPIC documentation experience within the past 2 years (required)

Ability to work every other weekend and flexible schedule to meet unit needs

Reliable personal transportation (public transit not available)

Compliance with hospital dress code (black or ceil blue scrubs, closed non-skid shoes, minimal jewelry, groomed hair / beard, nail polish per policy)

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

Provide respiratory care to patients from neonates to adults, including critical care and trauma cases

Operate and manage ventilators (Puritan Bennett 980 & 840, LTV1200), ABG analyzers, and specialized respiratory equipment

Float to various hospital units, including nursery and emergency room (ER), as needed

Accurately document patient care in EPIC electronic medical records

Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver high-quality patient care

Participate in department rotation schedules and work 2 out of 3 major holidays

Maintain compliance with all hospital policies and procedures
