Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with a NE or compact license, ACLS / BLS / NIHSS certifications, and strong cardiac and trauma care skills.
Responsibilities
Work in a 33-bed adult ICU within an acute care hospital settingAverage census of 16, caring for medical and surgical patientsNurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1 : 2-3 for adultsCommon cases include trauma, cardiac, sepsis, stroke, overdose, vascular, renal and respiratory failure, and post-procedure careRNs are required to titrate cardiac, insulin, and sedation dripsPatient monitoring with GE brand monitors; RNs must read, interpret, and document telemetry stripsRNs provide respiratory monitoring from nasal cannula to ventilatorsSupport staff includes nurse aides and healthcare support techs12-hour day shifts from 06 : 30 to 18 : 30Every other weekend required; minimum of two holidays during contractFloating to PCU or MedSurg required at similar patient ratiosUses Epic EMR; Epic experience preferredPrimary responsibilities include managing complex critical care patients with titratable drips and advanced monitoringCollaborate with support staff to deliver high-quality patient careSelf-scheduling available for core staff; travelers are added into existing schedulesRTO must be submitted upfront and cannot exceed seven days per 13-week contractBlock scheduling is not approved except for weekends; duos or shared car arrangements are not permittedCandidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility based on driver’s licenseOrientation consists of one unit-specific shift and completion of required testingTravelers are integrated into the team but cannot receive block scheduling except for weekendsRequirements
Active NE or compact state RN license required at time of considerationMinimum two years of recent ICU nursing experienceCurrent ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required (no pending certifications accepted)Nurse must provide a copy of driver's license for radius complianceMust not have been employed directly by any facility in the CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity networks in the past yearTwo professional references required : one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last three yearsMust pass a skills-based open book exam during orientation with a score of 90% or aboveArtificial nails are not permitted in patient care areasBenefits
