Emergency Room Nurse - Night 3x12-Hour Shifts

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Night shifts are from 03 : 00 AM to 03 : 30 AM, with a requirement for every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday). No blocked scheduling. Must be available to float between Paterson and Wayne locations.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Room Nurse to deliver high-quality patient care in a busy academic facility. The candidate will work primarily within the Emergency Department, with responsibilities including triaging and caring for both adult and pediatric patients. Experience in trauma care and a focus on patient satisfaction are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation using Cerner charting system.
  • Participate in triage using ESI, managing critical and non-critical cases.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure effective patient treatment plans.
  • Monitor patient conditions and respond to emergency situations as they arise.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families regarding treatment and care options.

    • Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a large academic medical center, specifically in Emergency Room settings.
  • Recent experience in trauma care, with Level I or II trauma experience required.
  • Certifications : BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC (with a TNCC class scheduled prior to start), and CEN is preferred.
  • Must possess a valid NJ or Compact nursing license at the time of submission.
  • Prior experience with pediatric patients and triage is mandatory.
