American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring Level I trauma experience and strong critical care skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 24-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) within an acute care hospitalPatient population includes cardiac surgery recovery, transplant, CRRT, IABP, ECMO, thoracic and high acuity cardiovascular casesNurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1 : 1 or 1 : 2 depending on acuity12-hour night shifts with a requirement to work 3 weekend shifts per 4-week scheduleHoliday shifts are assigned according to the unit’s rotationCerner is used for electronic medical recordsFloating is required to other ICUs, telemetry units (4 : 1 ratio), and may include floating to additional campusesUse of specialized equipment including IABP, CRRT, ECMO, Swans, and Phillips telemetryPerform bedside procedures, such as bronchs and central line care, in a high acuity environmentDay 1 orientation includes testing on sterile technique—maintenance of sterile field is criticalTeam includes charge nurse without assignment, two patient care technicians per shift with high census, intensivist days / on-call nights, and 24 / 7 RT and pharmacy supportNavy scrubs are required for all shiftsReturning candidates must not have been directly employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past yearMust have natural hair color and no facial piercings; men must be clean shaven for fit testingCandidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facilityFirst-time travelers will be considered\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact RN license required at the time of considerationMinimum of 2 years recent ICU experience; CVICU experience highly preferredLevel I trauma experience requiredCurrent ACLS and BLS certifications required; CCRN preferredMust pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance with two attempts allowedMust successfully complete a pass / fail SIMs lab on sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on day 1 of orientationStrong IV skills are required due to no designated IV teamDriver’s license required to verify residence outside the 50-mile radiusProfessional references : one supervisor reference from the past 12 months and one reference (peer or supervisor) from the past 3 years\n Benefits\n
