PURPOSE OF POSITION :
The Sales Agronomist is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with local growers by providing agronomic expertise and recommending crop input solutions that maximize profitability and sustainability. This role combines agronomic advising, product sales, and seasonal planning support, serving as a trusted partner throughout the crop production cycle.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Grower Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain relationships with current and prospective customers
- Conduct on-farm visits to understand crop plans, field history, and production goals
- Act as a resource for agronomic questions and seasonal decision-making
- Provide post-sale service and support to ensure satisfaction and performance
Agronomic Advising
Recommend seed, crop protection, and nutrient management programs based on field conditions and grower objectivesUtilize scouting, soil sampling, and related tools to guide recommendationsStay current on local pests, diseases, weather, and product developmentsHelp growers interpret agronomic data and refine in-season strategiesSales & Business Development
Promote and sell seed, chemical, fertilizer, and agronomy servicesDevelop annual sales plans and achieve targets in assigned territoryPrepare quotes, negotiate pricing (within guidelines), and follow up on leadsCoordinate with operations team to ensure timely product delivery and applicationMaintain accurate records of grower interactions, product use, and field notesOther duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS : Required :
Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Ag Business, or related fieldStrong agronomic knowledge of crops, soils, and inputsExcellent communication, listening, and relationship-building skillsAbility to work independently and manage a territoryValid driver's license and willingness to travel locallyPreferred :
Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) designation or willingness to obtainFamiliarity with ag retail systemsCDL and / or Applicator License (if needed to support operations)WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL ABILITIES :
Primarily works between in an office and outdoor environmentExposed to moderate noise levelsRegularly sitting, talking and hearingRegularly reaching with hands and armsThe ability to identify and distinguish colors is necessary including the ability to see at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more to accomplish the essential dutiesMust be able to frequently lift 50+ poundsThe ability to focus and pay attention to current situation / duties is requiredOther physical requirements may apply with additional duties assignedABOUT THE COMPANY :
