Responsibilities Work in an 18-bed Neuro ICU within an acute care hospital setting Patient population includes ventricular drains, stroke patients (with or without tPA), and craniectomy cases Nurse to patient ratio is 1 : 2 Care involves ventriculostomy, ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, titration of various IV drips, and acute stroke management RNs use ventilators, Cpap, Bipap, and high flow equipment Phillips monitors are used for telemetry and nurses interpret their own strips Electronic charting is performed using Epic, and experience is required Work schedule is three 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) per week, including rotating weekends and holidays Travelers are required to float first and may be assigned to intermediate and general care units Responsibilities include providing specialized nursing care to critically ill neuro patients and managing complex medical equipment RNs may assist with troubleshooting RT equipment and are responsible for reading and interpreting their own cardiac strips Charge nurse or house supervisor is present on each shift, with support from patient care techs Unit-specific orientation consists of 20 hours, split between one 8-hour and one 12-hour shift Travelers float first and may be assigned to other units with adjusted ratios COVID vaccination is not required for this assignment Local rates may apply for candidates living within 50 miles of the facility Requirements Active IL RN license is required at the time of consideration Minimum of 1 year recent Neuro ICU experience Current BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA are mandatory NIH Stroke Scale certification and experience with ventriculostomies, ventilators, and acute stroke management are required Ability to titrate multiple types of drips as ordered by a physician Experience with Epic EMR is required Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-627284.
