Job Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Taxation & Business Licensing will assist all operations of the tribal taxation, business licensing and audit functions, sales and use tax compliance, and collection of licensing fees and taxes, verifying their accuracy and performing audits when necessary to ensure compliance.
Duties
- Assist, update, administer, and maintain tribal licensing, tax, and audit functions
- Verifies sales and tax amounts including copies of invoices for all products that are used by contractors and vendors doing business on the Moapa Band of Paiutes reservation
- Collaborate with the Director of Taxation & Business Licensing on collection of appropriate taxes and license fees
- Maintain working relationships with contractors, suppliers, vendors, etc.
- Must be professional and be able to do on-site audits of sales taxes
- Make effective oral presentations to small and large groups
- Must be able to use initiative and exercise independent judgment and sound reasoning
- Maintain accurate records and files
- Prepare clear and accurate reports
- Maintain effective working relationships with staff and tribal members
- Knowledge of tribal sovereignty as it relates to business management and tribal government operations
- Other duties as needed or required
Requirements
Prefer a High School diploma or previous experience in Finance or related fieldsPrefer experience in filing, data entry, excel, 10-key, MIP Accounting SoftwareMust have ability to multitask and possess excellence in management, planning, and organizationMust have working knowledge of tribal sovereignty as it relates to business management and tribal governance structureMust possess a valid driver's licenseMust be insurable through tribal insuranceMust pass pre-employment background investigationMust pass pre-employment alcohol / drug screeningIndian Preference Per Section 703(i) of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended
